Job Description

The Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to scientific research, advancing scientific knowledge, and promoting science education among diverse audiences. CHRF is registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau and was founded in 2007 by a multidisciplinary research group. We operate with the core mission to improve child health by facilitating appropriate policy decisions on the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, through quality research and advocacy using available resources. We conduct research in four hospitals (Dhaka Shishu Hospital, Dr. MR Khan Shishu hospital, Chittagong Ma-O-Shishu Hospital, and Kumudini Women’s Medical College) and five microbiology laboratories around the country. We collaborate with different international organizations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, World Health Organization, Edinburgh University, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, Centre for Disease Control, etc.

CHRF is expanding its Building Scientists for Bangladesh (BSB) team and seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior Training Officer to join our dynamic team. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in helping us conduct various training programs for high school students and university professionals, covering laboratory techniques in microbiology, molecular biology, and genomics.

Required Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Genetic Engineering or a similar field.
  • Candidates with prior knowledge and basic training in molecular biology, biochemistry, and genomics will be given priority.
  • Must be highly organized and particularly attentive to details.
  • Possess problem-solving, critical thinking, and management skills and be able to work independently.
  • Must be enthusiastic to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and be willing to take initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Bangla.

Salary

Starting from 35,000 BDT - 45,000 BDT (negotiable based on experience) + festival bonuses & provident fund

Role

  • Assist in the demonstration of laboratory techniques and analysis covered during training programs for both high school and university students conducted at CHRF.
  • Work closely with CHRF's Administration team to assist with the coordination of training programs and workshops and communication with trainees.
  • Assist in executing and coordinating training programs and workshops conducted at CHRF.
  • Assist in maintaining a calendar covering all programs and workshops to ensure timely assessment of all trainees.
  • Assist in keeping track of logistics needed for training sessions, and work closely with the lab management team to take care of the laboratory equipment for training purposes.
  • Assist in compiling lecture material for all training programs and workshops.
  • Assist in content creation (eg. taking pictures of trainees, etc) for CHRF’s website and social media platforms.
  • Assist in promoting CHRF’s training programs to various institutions and universities.
  • Assist in organizing science camps for high school students. Travel to those schools to organize the camps if needed.
