Job Description

Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to scientific research, advancing scientific knowledge and promoting science education among diverse audiences. CHRF is registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau and was founded in 2007 by a multidisciplinary research group, we operate with the core mission to improve child health by facilitating appropriate policy decisions on treatment and prevention of infectious diseases through quality research and advocacy using available resources. We conduct research in four hospitals (Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute, Dr. MR Khan Shishu hospital, Chittagong Ma-O-Shishu Hospital, and Kumudini Women’s Medical College) and five microbiology laboratories around the country. We collaborate with different international organizations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, World Health Organization, Edinburgh University, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, Centre for Disease Control, etc.

Required Candidate Profile

  • MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) with completed of internship and with good academic records. Candidate should have MD or MPhil or equivalent degree in clinical microbiology
  • At least two years experiences in pediatrics and/or in research settings
  • Computer literacy is essential
  • Research experience in studies of mother and child health or infectious disease will be an added advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in Bangla and English, are preferred
  • Skill of problem solving independently and feel free to ask the team, if needed
  • Must be enthusiastic to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and be willing to take initiatives

Salary

Starts at BDT 55000/- (negotiable depending on the experience and/or qualifications of the candidate) + festival bonuses & Provident fund.

Role

  • Supervise processing of clinical specimens from a range of sources
  • Liaise and coordinate between the laboratory ,clinical staff and administration
  • Monitor the operation of diagnostic lab day to day basis to ensure the highest quality of the patient care
  • Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in all activities
  • Investigate and follow up on issues, problems and complaints regarding the service of the diagnostic lab
  • Regularly share the progress and challenges with project coordinators and research investigators
  • Visit field sites across Bangladesh based on requirement
  • Any other activities that might be assigned by the supervisor as when be needed
