About CHRF


The Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to scientific research, advancing scientific knowledge and promoting science education among diverse audiences. CHRF is a non-profit organization and is also registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau. It was founded in 2007 by a multidisciplinary research group, we operate with the core mission to improve child heath by facilitating appropriate policy decisions on the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, through quality research and advocacy using available resources. We conduct research with four hospitals (Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute, Dr. M R Khan Shishu hospital & Institute of Child Health, Chittagong Ma-O-Shishu Hospital, and Kumudini Women’s Medical College) and five microbiology laboratories around the country. We collaborate with different organizations like World Health Organization, Edinburgh University, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), etc. We invite applications for the position of “Communications Lead” to lead our creative and passionate Science Communication team and be at the forefront of sharing CHRF’s journey of science and advocacy with the world.

Required Candidate Profile

  • At least a Master’s degree in any discipline (not limited to life sciences) from a reputed
    university.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in the field of communication. Experience on
    science communication is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
    effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to
    interact professionally with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Good command of writing skills both in Bangla and English.

Salary

Negotiable (depending on the experience and/or qualifications of the candidate). Other Benefits: Contributory provident fund, festival allowance (Eid/Puja/Christmas and Baishakhi) and two days weekend.

Role

  • Collaborate directly with CHRF's leadership team to brainstorm and implement innovative strategies, such social media campaigns, and event management initiatives with relevant stakeholders, for effectively communicating CHRF's research to the public and get people excited about science.
  • Supervise all activities of the Science Communication team, ensuring timely updates of the website and social media platforms, as well as overseeing the design of all brochures, flyers, and merchandise.
  • Optimize CHRF’s website content for search engine optimization (SEO) to enhance organic traffic and gather feedback from team members to improve user experience.
  • Identify and engage key stakeholders to expand CHRF's newsletter subscription base, use mailing lists and utilize email marketing tools to track and refine newsletter performance.
  • Maintain relationships with journalists to enhance CHRF's media presence and deliver impactful press releases on CHRF’s research findings and recent publications, always prioritizing effective science communication devoid of misinformation.
  • Scope and identify relevant research and training grants which are aligned with CHRF’s strategic priorities.
  • Provide assistance in grant writing and clearly communicate the project’s impact and deliverables by collaborating with the leadership team.
  • Conduct training for CHRF members to enhance their skills in science communication and empower them to craft a compelling story out of their research.
  • Serve as the official spokesperson and primary point of contact representing CHRF for all communication and media interactions, including engagements with journalists, stakeholders, and collaborators.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned, which may include tasks specific to the organization's needs.
