Job Description

Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to scientific research, advancing scientific knowledge and promoting science education among diverse audiences. CHRF is registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau and was founded in 2007 by a multidisciplinary research group, we operate with the core mission to improve child health by facilitating appropriate policy decisions on treatment and prevention of infectious diseases through quality research and advocacy using available resources. We conduct research in four hospitals (Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute, Dr. MR Khan Shishu hospital, Chittagong Ma-O-Shishu Hospital, and Kumudini Women’s Medical College) and five microbiology laboratories around the country. We collaborate with different international organizations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, World Health Organization, Edinburgh University, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, Centre for Disease Control, etc.

Required Candidate Profile

  • MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) with completed of internship and with good academic records. Candidate should have MD/MPhil/MPH or equivalent degree in clinical microbiology
  • At least 3 years experiences in pediatrics and/or in research settings
  • Computer literacy is essential
  • Research experience in studies of mother and child health or infectious disease will be an added advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in Bangla and English, are preferred
  • Ability to independently solve problems and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and a willingness to take initiative

Salary

Starts at BDT 65000/- (negotiable depending on the experience and/or qualifications of the candidate) + festival bonuses & Provident fund.

Role

  • Lead and oversee the clinical specimen processing from various sources
  • Closely monitor the progress of the different project activities running at hospital and community-based sites in collaboration with project specific coordinators
  • Collaborate and coordinate effectively between the laboratory, clinical staff, and administration
  • Ensure the operation daily of diagnostic lab day to day basis to ensure the highest quality of the patient care
  • Assist investigators in proposal development, data analysis, budget preparation
  • Regularly share the progress with Research Investigator (RI)
  • Ensure that SOP is followed at each of the activities
  • Investigate and supervise on issues, problems, and complaints related to the diagnostic lab's services
  • Visit field sites across Bangladesh based on requirement
  • Any other activities that might be assigned by the supervisor as when be needed
