About CHRF

The Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to scientific research, advancing scientific knowledge and promoting science education among diverse audiences. CHRF is a non-profit organization and is also registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau. It was founded in 2007 by a multidisciplinary research group, we operate with the core mission to improve child heath by facilitating appropriate policy decisions on the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, through quality research and advocacy using available resources. We conduct research in four hospitals (Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute, Dr. M R Khan Shishu hospital & Institute of Child Health, Chittagong Ma-O-Shishu Hospital, and Kumudini Women’s Medical College) and five microbiology laboratories around the country. We collaborate with different organizations like World Health Organization, Edinburgh University, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), etc.

We invite applications for the position of “Science Communicator” to join our Science Communications Team and share CHRF’s daily stories of ‘preventing infections, saving lives, and building scientists’ with the world.

Required Candidate Profile

  • At least Bachelor of Science (BSc) majoring in a life science related topic from a reputed university. A Master’s degree will be a plus.
  • At least 1 year of practical experience and a genuine passion for science communication.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Good command of writing skills both in Bangla and English.

Salary

Negotiable (depending on the experience and/or qualifications of the candidate). Other Benefits: Contributory provident fund, festival allowance (Eid/Puja/Christmas and Baishakhi) and two days weekend.

Role

  • Understand the public health impact of CHRF's research and effectively communicate it in the form of visually appealing and informative content such as blog posts, videos, infographics, and posters.
  • Collaborate with CHRF’s research, diagnostic, and administrative teams to gather materials which showcase the organization's past, current, and future activities and create meaningful stories out of them.
  • Maintain and update CHRF's website with engaging blog posts, project updates, and media coverage and collaborate with the web development team to implement new features.
  • Generate engaging daily content for CHRF's social media platforms, schedule campaigns for holidays and special events as required, and monitor audience response.
  • Design newsletters, as well as brochures and flyers for CHRF's research, training, and commercial services.
  • Maintain branding consistency across all materials, including merchandise design and implementation.
  • Collaborate with the 'Building Scientists for Bangladesh' (BSB) team to identify training needs and develop learning objectives for CHRF's target audience and promote training courses through various channels.
  • Mentor the BSB fellow/s on science communication and oversee all their activities, including assistance with newsletter design and social media posts.
  • Support CHRF members with conference presentations, ensuring they are well-prepared to articulate the complete story behind the science conducted at CHRF and how it benefits the public.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned, which may include tasks specific to the organization's needs.
