Job Description

Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) is a non-profit NGO based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Founded in 2007 by a multidisciplinary research group, we operate with the core mission to improve child health by facilitating appropriate policy decisions on treatment and prevention of infectious diseases through quality research and advocacy using available resources. We conduct research in four hospitals (Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute, Dr. MR Khan Shishu hospital, Chittagong Ma-O-Shishu Hospital, and Kumudini Women’s Medical College Hospital) and five microbiology laboratories around the country. We collaborate with different organizations like World Health Organization, Edinburgh University, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), etc.  

We invite applications for the position “Biochemist” (depending on the qualifications and experience) to join our diagnostic team.

Job location: Dhaka / Mirzapur (Tangail), Bangladesh

Required Candidate Profile

  • BSc. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry
  • At least two years of experience in renowned diagnostic laboratory
  • Must be highly organized and be particularly attentive to details.
  • Must possess problem-solving, critical thinking, management skills and be able to work independently.
  • Must be enthusiastic to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and be willing to take initiative.
  • Good communication skills
  • Capacity to supervise junior colleagues.

Salary

Starts at BDT 40,000 (negotiable based on the experience and/or qualifications of the candidate) + Contributory provident fund and festival allowance (Eid/Puja/Christmas and Baishakhi)

Role

  • Plan, execute and supervise laboratory activities for diagnostic testing.
  • Follow the SOP for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Review calibration and QC results to ensure they meet specification limits and that appropriate corrective actions are taken to achieve acceptability prior releasing any test results.
  • Document and maintain instrument, reagent, and quality control records in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Managing reagent inventory (ordering, receiving, inspection and preparation)
  • Recognizing/resolving testing irregularities and assisting other laboratory personnel in problem resolution.
  • Notifying laboratory management about any instrument/equipment issues.
  • Plan and organize training sessions for general audience or study-specific personnel.
